জিন প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করে সম্পূর্ণ নতুন এক ধরণের ওষুধ তৈরির এক গবেষণা প্রকল্প শুরু করেছে ফার্মাসিউটিক্যাল প্রতিষ্ঠান এ্যাস্ট্রাজেনেকা। বলা হচ্ছে এর ফলে ক্যান্সার, হৃদরোগ আর ডায়াবেটিস রোগের চিকিৎসার ক্ষেত্রে বৈপ্লবিক পরিবর্তন ঘটবে।

এর ফলে ডাযাবেটিস, হৃদরোগ এবং অনেক ধরণের ক্যান্সারের চিকিৎসায় বৈপ্লবিক অগ্রগতি ঘটবে বলে বিজ্ঞানীরা বলছেন।

এমন এক পদ্ধতিতে এই ওষুধ তৈরির গবেষণা চলছে যা আগে কখনো হয়নি। ক্রিস্প-আর নামের এই পদ্ধতিতে মানবদেহের জিনের যে উপাদানগুলো এক একটি বিশেষ রোগ সৃষ্টি করে - তা আলাদা করে তার ওপর ওষুধগুলো কাজ করে কিনা তা পরীক্ষা করে দেখা হবে।

বিবিসির বিজ্ঞানবিষয়ক সংবাদদাতা পল্লব ঘোষ বলছেন, "আপনি একটা আইভি ফুলের লতার কথা চিন্তা করুন। মনে করুন, পুরো লতাটা হচ্ছে যেন একটা ডিএনএ, আর এর পাতাগুলো যেন এক একটা জিন। যখন এই পাতাগুলোর একটা - অর্থাৎ একটা জিন - খারাপ হয়ে যাচ্ছে, তখনই আপনি কোনো রোগে আক্রান্ত হচ্ছেন। এখন এই গবেষণা প্রকল্পটার লক্ষ্য হলো - এই লতাগাছটা থেকে নষ্ট হওয়া পাতাটি কেটে নেবার মতনই, ডিএনএ থেকে এই ত্রুটিপূর্ণ জিনগুলো কেটে বের করে নেয়া, এবং তার ওপর এক একটা ওষুধ প্রয়োগ করে পরীক্ষা করে দেখা - যে ঠিক কোন্ ওষুধটা আপনার রোগ সারাতে পারে।"

"বিজ্ঞানীরা এই কাজটা করার জন্য এমন কতগুলো অণু তৈরি করেছেন যা একটা ডিজিটাল কাঁচি বা ছুরির মতো করে কাজ করবে, ওই রোগাক্রান্ত জিনটাকে কেটে বের করে আনতে পারবে। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা হলো নতুন এই প্রযুক্তিটি সস্তা এবং খুব দ্রুত কাজ করে।"

এ্যান্ট্রাজেনেকা এই গবেষণা করছে ওয়েরকাম ট্রাস্ট স্যাঙ্গার ইনস্টিটিউটের সাথে। এতে ২০০০ সালের মানব জিনোম প্রকল্প থেকে মানব জিনের গঠন সম্পর্কে যেসব তথ্য জানা গেছে তাই এতে ব্যবহার করা হবে।

এটা প্রয়োগ করে বিজ্ঞানীরা একটি দেহকোষের মধ্যে থাকা জিনগুলোকে বেছে নিয়ে তাতে কাটছাঁট বা পরিবর্তন করতে পারেন।

এই ক্রিস্প-আর প্রযুক্তি সম্পর্কে এবারের বিজ্ঞানের আসরে কথা বলেছেন ভারতের বেঙ্গালুরুতে ইন্ডিয়ান ইনস্টিটিউট অব সায়েন্সের মলিকিউলার বায়োফিজিক্সএর অধ্যাপক ড. দীপংকর চ্যাটার্জি।

তিনি বলছেন, ক্রিস্পআর প্রযুক্তিটি আবিষ্কৃত হয়েছে বছর দুয়েক আগে, এবং এটি এতই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আবিষ্কার যে এর উদ্ভাবকরা শিগগীরই নোবেল পুরস্কার পাবেন এমন কথাও বলা হচ্ছে।

In exercise of the power conferred by the explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 (XXVI of 1881), read with Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Notification No. 20/25/56-pub(I) dated the 8th June, 1957 the Governor is pleased to declare the following days to be public holidays during the year 2015.

2) The holiday with double asterisk marks i.e. (**) is applicable to those Government Offices only where Saturdays are not observed as full holiday.

3) General Instructions as laid down below in this Notification 5204-F(P) Dated 14-10-2014 are to be followed in case of Muslim festivals.

Note : 1) The holidays with double asterisk mark i.e. (**) are applicable to those Government Offices where Saturday is not observed as full holiday.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO BE FOLLOWED IN ALL TYPES OF HOLIDAYS INCLUDING HOLIDAYS FOR THE MUSLIM FESTIVALS

(1) No substitute holiday should be allowed if any of the festival – holidays initially notified subsequently happens to fall on a weekly off or any other non-working day or in the event of more than one festival falling on the same day.

(2) If there is any change in the date of Id-UI-Fitre, ld-Ud-Zoha, Muharram, Fateha-Duaz-Daham, Sab-e-Barat depending upon the sighting of the Moon, holiday will be declared by a separate order for the date on which the festival would be actually observed in lieu of the date originally notified as holiday for this festival.

(3) It may happen that the change of date of above occasions has to be notified at a very short notice. In such a situation, announcement would be made through T.V/A.I.R/Newspapers and the Heads of Departments/Office of the State Government may take action according to such an announcement without waiting for formal order, about the change of date.
